This most meritorious birthday celebration will be marked with a Lama Chopa Tsog puja, followed by an offering of birthday cake and candles to celebrate Choji-la’s 69th birthday and his invaluable contribution to the Dharma.

If you have received initiation from Ven. Choji-la, attending this birthday puja is also an expression of your devotion and gratitude.

How to join

• You are encouraged to attend this auspicious puja in person, especially if you have received initiation from Ven. Choji-la.
• You can make birthday offerings at Ven. Choji-la’s throne in Wisdom Hall, such as khatas; body, speech and mind; monetary offerings; or anything else that you wish. Sincerely making offerings to one’s teacher is an opportunity to practise generosity and collect merits.
• If you wish to make a monetary offering, it is considered auspicious in the Tibetan tradition to offer an odd number rather than an even number as this creates the karma to meet the teacher again in the future.
• Offerings will be placed in Panglung Ritroe and presented to Ven. Choji-la when he returns to Kechara Forest Retreat.

About Ven. Choji-la

His Eminence the 7th Panglung Kuten Thubten Phelgye Jigme Namgyal, also known as Ven. Choji-la, is the renowned oracle of Sera Monastery who takes trance of Dorje Shugden, Kache Marpo, Setrap, Shiptak Gyene and other Dharma protectors.

Ven. Choji-la has studied under many gurus including H.H. Kyabje Trijang Rinpoche, H.H. Kyabje Ling Rinpoche and H.H. Kyabje Zong Rinpoche. He is a pure monk who has kept his vows and commitments very well. H.E. Tsem Rinpoche regarded him highly, and requested him to give oral transmissions and engage in numerous pujas for Kechara in the past. Most recently on September 9, 2023, he gave the initiation of Trakpo Sumtril in Kechara Forest Retreat.
