Jangwa is a special Tibetan Buddhist tantric ritual to benefit the deceased. It can be done for the recently departed or for those who have passed on a long time ago. The Jangwa Puja helps the deceased by:
The upcoming Jangwa Fire Puja in Kechara Forest Retreat will be conducted based on the Vajrayogini tantra. During the puja, the minds of the deceased are invited and then through ritual, their karma is purified and they are transformed into Buddha Vajrayogini.
A significant part of the puja is the symbolic burning of the dedication tablets containing the names of the deceased. This signifies the destruction of their self-cherishing mind and the sending of their consciousness to Kechara Paradise — Vajrayogini’s Pureland. This is a place where they can practise the Dharma fully to achieve spiritual advancement, higher states of consciousness and eventually Buddhahood.
This is the first time that this sacred puja will be performed in Kechara Forest Retreat.
