Escape the distractions of daily life and immerse in the Dharma protector’s blessings with a 48-Hour Dorje Shugden Practice Retreat. Known as Drubpa in Tibetan, this intensive group practice creates immense positive energy through non-stop chanting of Dorje Shugden’s mantra — great for removing obstacles and creating ideal conditions for daily life and spiritual growth.

It is also the culmination of the 30-day programme commemorating the 5th Parinirvana Anniversary of His Eminence the 25th Tsem Rinpoche.

How it works

The Dorje Shugden Drubpa Practice Retreat is different from the normal protector retreats that you may be used to.

  • It begins with all participants performing the first session together, consisting of Dorje Shugden’s kangso (fulfilment ritual).
  • As the mantra recitation section begins, retreatants take shifts to keep the chanting going non-stop throughout the duration of the retreat. For this event, it will span 48 hours.
  • At the end of the retreat, all participants join the final session to recite the concluding section of the kangso and dedicate the merits.
  • Sessions will be led by visiting sangha from the main monasteries of our lineage in India and Nepal.

What to bring

  • Mala
  • Mala/mantra counter
  • A shawl or sweater in case you feel cold

How to join

Participation is free and everyone is welcome. All retreatants must register in advance here.

Please note:

  • The first and last sessions of the retreat are mandatory for all retreatants. The opening session begins at 7.00 pm on Sep 27 (Fri) and the closing session ends at 7.00 pm on Sep 29 (Sun).
  • You will be assigned mantra recitation shifts throughout the retreat as there must be at least 4 people during each session. Please indicate your preferred timing when you register.
  • Meals and accommodation are available for pre-order/booking. Please indicate your needs when you register.
  • Retreatants should follow the standard retreat guidelines including observing a Mahayana Buddhist diet, avoiding dairy (milk, butter, cheese, etc), black foods (meat, fish, eggs, onions and garlic) and abstaining from non-virtuous actions throughout the duration of the retreat.
At the end of the retreat, you can offer khatas and kuyong (a token monetary offering) to the Sangha who are leading the retreat.
